IND vs. SA Test Series 2025: What former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar said about poor performance of Team India batsmen?

IND vs. SA Test Series 2025: Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has criticized Indian batsmen for their poor preparation on home pitches and their tendency to play more on foreign tours.

Manjrekar said, "Lack of preparation is the reason for India's batting failures." He said that Indian players perform well in domestic first-class cricket, but after being selected for the team, they leave domestic matches. This is why, when they play in India, they appear unfamiliar with the pitches and conditions.

Manjrekar said that Indian batsmen are becoming NRIs. He also expressed his views on improving batting technique. He said that aggressive play works against fast bowlers on foreign pitches. However, skills like footwork, defense, and strike rotation are essential for success on turning tracks. Batsmen cannot achieve success through aggressive play alone.

Former cricketers blame Gambhir

Former Indian cricketers including Anil Kumble, Venkatesh Prasad, and Saba Karim had blamed Gambhir. Atul Wassan even demanded Gambhir's removal.

The Indian team will not play any Test match for the next 8 months. The team's next Test match will be against Sri Lanka in August 2026, at home. Sri Lanka's spin pitches are likely to test the Indian batsmen.
