Mysterious Facts About Jagannath Puri Temple: The country is home to many ancient and famous temples dedicated to the worship of various deities. These temples have their own beliefs. While there are many myths and beliefs associated with the Jagannath Temple, a belief about the temple remains prevalent today. A tradition holds that only married couples can visit this temple.

Unmarried couples are prohibited from entering this temple, whether they are lovers or those in an arranged marriage.

Why couples are prohibited from entering the temple

Couples in love or unmarried couples are prohibited from visiting the Jagannath Temple. There is a popular mythological story behind this tradition. It is believed that this tradition is linked to Radha Rani

According to the story, Radha once came to Puri to visit the Jagannath form of Lord Krishna. When she tried to enter the temple, the priests stopped her. Radha Ji was surprised and asked why she was being stopped.

The priests explained that she was Krishna's lover, and even the Lord's wives were not allowed inside the Jagannath Temple. Therefore, Radha Rani's entry was impossible. Hearing this, Radha Rani became deeply saddened and upset.

It is said that she then cursed that from that day onward, no unmarried couple would be allowed to enter this temple. Any unmarried couple who entered would never be successful in their love.

This rule has remained in place ever since and has not been changed. The priests and administration of the Puri Jagannath Temple observe this tradition with complete devotion. If any unmarried couple attempts to enter the temple, they are stopped. While this tradition may sound unusual, the people of Puri observe it with complete faith, believing it to be the will of the Lord and Radha Rani.
