Karnataka: What did DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah say after the meeting?
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar met on Saturday. They subsequently held a joint press conference.
CM Siddaramaiah said, "We have decided that we will accept whatever the high command says. There will be no confusion starting tomorrow. There is still no confusion. Some media reporters have created confusion."
Siddaramaiah said, "There are no differences between us and there will be no differences in the future... Our agenda is the 2028 elections. Local body elections are important. We discussed them. We also discussed bringing Congress back to power in the 2028 elections. We discussed that we will contest the elections together."
Shivakumar also reiterates his commitment to obey party high command
DK Shivakumar also reiterated his commitment to obey the party high command.
He said, "We abide by the High Command. Today, I and the Hon’ble Chief Minister had a breakfast meeting. The CM will be coming to my house for lunch or dinner in the next few days as well. We have joined together and worked together. The workers of the state have supported us, and the people of Karnataka have blessed us with a massive mandate. Whatever promises we have given to the people, it is our bound duty to deliver them."
Shivakumar said further, "It is our responsibility to fulfil every commitment made to our people. We are fortunate to have your support, and we are delivering a government focused on good governance. We discussed the strategy for 2028 and the upcoming Assembly session from December 8th. We are fully prepared to tackle and answer the Opposition."
Shivakumar said that as far as the leadership issue is concerned, we will go by the decision of the party high command. "We have always been loyal soldiers of the party. We are party workers, we are confident that Karnataka will play a major role, we will repeat government in 2028, and move forward in 2029 as well under the leadership of Shri Mallikarjun Kharge and Shri Rahul Gandhi," he said.
Some MLAs are not against the leadership: CM
Referring to some MLAs going to Delhi, CM Siddaramaiah said, "As far as I know, some MLAs want to become ministers, so they may have gone to meet the high command. This does not mean that they are against the leadership. Some of them spoke to me and explained why they went to Delhi."
CM Siddaramaiah had invited DK Shivakumar to his residence for breakfast.
After this meeting, CM Siddaramaiah posted on Instagram, "Had breakfast with Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar this morning and had a brief conversation."
DK Shivakumar wrote on Instagram, "Met CM Siddaramaiah at Kaveri Residence this morning for a breakfast meeting. Had a good discussion on Karnataka's priorities and the way forward."
