Neemuch emerges as hub of solar energy production in MP: How Singoli Project is giving new momentum to green energy generation

🎧 Listen:

Neemuch: Of the state’s 31,000 MW installed capacity, more than 30% comes from green energy. Neemuch district is emerging as the leading hub of solar energy production in the state, currently generating 500 MW of solar power.

With a 500 MW solar energy generation capacity, Neemuch district is steadily becoming the state’s green energy hub. The district has Singoli Unit-3 in village Badi with a capacity of 170 MW, Badawada Unit-1 with 160 MW, and Kawai Unit-2 with 170 MW. Additionally, Agar district produces 330 MW of solar energy. These projects, established by T.C. Surya Company, generate 68 million units of green electricity annually, which is supplied to Indian Railways and state power utilities.

 Cutting-edge technology in Singoli Project

Spread across 704 hectares, the project units are located in the villages of Badawada, Badi Kawai, Kheda Maa Ka Dol, Thadod and Ananiya. Key features include single-axis tracker technology, high-efficiency solar panels and multi-location generation units.

A 151 MW solar power unit, established by Welspun Solar MP Private Limited at village Bhagwanpura in Jawad block, has been operational since February 2014. This unit reduces carbon emissions by 216,372 tons annually and supplies energy to 6.24 lakh households. The plant uses 235-watt polycrystalline PV panels and is one of the major units in the country, generating power at 132 kV high voltage.

Country’s first ‘solar plus battery storage’ project coming up in Morena

India’s first ‘solar plus battery storage’ project is being established in Morena. It will provide 24-hour green energy at a rate of Rs 2.70 per unit, ensuring uniform power availability during peak and non-peak hours. The project is being developed by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited.

The state’s five major operational solar projects have a combined generation capacity of 2,750 MW. Madhya Pradesh has set a target of achieving 20 GW of green energy capacity by 2030.

The state has received applications for 14,850 MW pump-hydro projects, out of which 8,450 MW have already been registered. For compressed biogas and biomass pellet projects, a capacity of 6,500 tons per day has been proposed.
