When will India's First Digital Lounge at Mumbai Central Railway Station be Ready? Will it have modern airport-style facilities?
Mumbai Central Railway Station: Construction of India's first Digital Lounge at Mumbai Central Railway Station is progressing rapidly and is scheduled to be operational by the end of December. The tender for this project was finalized in May 2025 for Rs 2.71 crore and is being developed as a pilot project for Indian Railways.
The lounge is being developed across 1712 square feet and will be equipped with modern airport-style facilities. Passengers will enjoy a comfortable, uninterrupted work environment, with amenities such as WiFi, charging points, a café, tables, chairs, and sofas.
The main objective of this lounge is to provide passengers with the opportunity to easily complete their office and college work, especially those who arrive at the station early and are looking for a comfortable place to work.
Facility will also be available to outside visitors
This digital lounge will also generate revenue of approximately Rs 50 lakh annually for the Mumbai Division of Western Railway. Significantly, this facility will be available not only to train passengers but also to outside visitors. Working professionals, students, and those working from home can also come and work here. Additionally, the complex will also feature cafe-like facilities, ensuring food and beverage availability.
