PM Narendra Modi meets Women's World Cup-2025 champion team
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Women's World Cup champion team on Wednesday at his residence on Lok Kalyan Marg in Delhi.
During the conversation, Harmanpreet Kaur asked Prime Minister Modi how he manages to always remain in the present, despite his demanding responsibilities.
The Prime Minister replied that being present has become part of his life and habit over time.
Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana said that Prime Minister Modi had always motivated the team and served as an inspiration for all of them.
She noted that girls are doing well in every field today and credited the Prime Minister’s initiatives for empowering women across sectors.
Smriti added that meeting PM Modi after their World Cup win was a proud and emotional moment for the entire team.
The Prime Minister appreciated her words and encouraged the players to continue inspiring young women through their achievements
The Indian team became the champion after defeating South Africa in the Women's World Cup final played last Sunday at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
PM Modi mentioned Deepti Sharma’s Instagram post with “Jai Shri Ram” and her tattoo of Lord Hanuman, asking about its significance.
Deepti replied that her faith gives her strength and positivity, especially during high-pressure moments in matches.
The lighthearted conversation brought smiles all around, with the Prime Minister appreciating how faith and mental strength often guide athletes through tough situations.
The Prime Minister congratulated the team on their victory. The Indian women's cricket team has won the World Cup for the first time.
During the meeting, PM Modi praised the team's impressive comeback in the tournament after facing consecutive defeats in the first three matches and social media trolling.
