What DK Shivakumar said about change of guard in Karnataka
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has reportedly admitted that he is waiting for a leadership change, but also stressed that he is "in no hurry for anything."
The Deputy Chief Minister denied that his Mumbai visit was politically motivated. He also reiterated his recent remark that "the power of words is the power of the world."
Speaking to reporters after attending a family function in Mumbai, Shivakumar clarified that his visit had no political implications.
He said, "There is no meeting. I have come for a family function. Why should I come to Mumbai for any meeting? If there is a meeting, it will be in Bengaluru or Delhi."
He also said that he is leaving immediately after the function. When repeatedly asked if he had spoken to senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi or Mallikarjun Kharge regarding leadership discussions within the state Congress, Shivakumar replied, "No, no. They are my leaders. I am in no hurry."
The Deputy Chief Minister clarified his statement that "the power of words is the power of the world," saying the comment was made during his Constitution Day address to highlight the responsibility that comes with public communication.
Shivakumar said, "Whatever judges say, whatever politicians say, whatever I say is very important. I told advocates that you must be careful when you convey a message. Everything we say has power in this world."
DK Shivakumar said that the media also shapes public perception through their choice of words. He said, "Whatever your anchor or reporter says is important. That is the power."
