What UP CM Yogi Adityanath said about recitation of Vande Mataram in state's schools, colleges?
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Monday that his government will make recitation of Vande Mataram compulsory in the state's schools, colleges, and educational institutions.
He said, "Remember the song that awakened India's dormant consciousness? Which revolutionary would have not proclaimed Vande Mataram during the freedom struggle after 1876? Soon, this proclamation of Vande Mataram became the mantra of freedom from foreign slavery."
Yogi said, "Some people tried to modify the song that became the mantra of India's independence by labeling it as communal. Congress tried this. Congress said, "Why should we recite five or six verses? Two verses are enough."
Yogi Adityanath said, "It is essential to identify the forces that harm India's unity. We must deal with them effectively so that no Jinnah emerges to challenge India's unity. No individual, caste, sect, or religion can be greater than the nation. If anyone's beliefs hinder national unity, they must be stopped."
