Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium: Big news has emerged regarding Delhi's famous Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (JLN Stadium). According to reports, the government is now working on a plan to demolish this historic stadium to make way for a modern "Sports City." The Sports Ministry has begun preliminary preparations for this project.

Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium was originally constructed for the 1982 Asian Games. Since then, the stadium has hosted many historic sporting events. In 2010, before the Commonwealth Games, the stadium underwent an extensive renovation, costing Rs 961 crore. Recently, before the World Para Athletics Championships, renovation work worth Rs 50 crore was also carried out here.

State-of-the-art sports city will be developed

The Sports Ministry now aims to transform this entire area into a "modern sports city" with world-class facilities. According to sources, the ministry is studying Doha and other international sports city models for this project to develop the best infrastructure in India.

An official told, "This project is currently under consideration. We are studying global models. Once this process is complete, we will move to the next stage of planning."

Can host Olympic-level events

The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium has witnessed many golden moments in Indian sports history over the years, from the 1982 Asian Games to the 2010 Commonwealth Games and international football matches. Now, the Sports City that will be built in place of this stadium aims to provide India with a center capable of hosting Olympic-level events.

Delhi to get a new sports hub

If everything goes according to plan, Delhi will be getting a world-class sports hub in the coming years. The new Sports City will include facilities for athletics, football, indoor games, swimming, and multi-sport facilities. This move could prove to be a watershed not only for the capital but for the entire Indian sports ecosystem.
