Bhopal Metro ride to cost Rs 20 for up to 2 stations; 17 trips to operate daily; Manohar Lal Khattar and CM Mohan Yadav will inaugurate

In Bhopal, people will be able to travel by metro for Rs 20 to Rs 40. After the inauguration on December 20, the metro will run according to its scheduled time from December 21. Managing Director S Krishna Chaitanya shared this information on Thursday. There will be 9 trips from AIIMS to Subhash Nagar and 8 trips from Subhash Nagar to AIIMS every day. The metro will run in a total of 17 trips every 75 minutes.

Chaitanya said that the first train from AIIMS station will depart at 9 am and the first train from Subhash Nagar at 9:40 am. The last train departure time from these stations will be 7 pm and 6:25 pm respectively. 

Passenger fares

Passenger fares have been divided into 'zones' based on the number of stations. Zone 1 (1 to 2 stations): Rs 20, Zone 2 (3 to 5 stations): Rs 30, Zone 3 (6 to 8 stations): Rs 40.

Chaitanya said that keeping in mind passenger safety and operational standards, each station will have a capacity to allow a maximum of 500 passengers into the station premises at a time. Full consideration has also been given to the convenience of disabled persons.

According to the information received, the Bhopal Metro will connect the city's major commercial and residential areas, reducing traffic congestion and improving the quality of life for citizens. The first phase of the Bhopal Metro, the Orange Line 'Priority Corridor', is being inaugurated. 

Section includes eight stations

Metro services will start between AIIMS Metro Station and Subhash Nagar Metro Station from December 21. This approximately 7 km section includes 8 elevated stations: AIIMS, Alkapuri, DRM Office, Rani Kamalapati Station, MP Nagar, Board Office Chauraha, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Subhash Nagar.

Inauguration on Dec 20

Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the Bhopal Metro on December 20 at around 5 pm. After the program held at Minto Hall, the dignitaries will travel from Subhash Nagar Metro Depot to AIIMS station. After arriving at AIIMS station, Chief Minister Yadav will share details related to the metro project.
