New Delhi: The Congress party welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to stay the High Court's order in the Unnao rape case, stating that it is a victory for the victim and those who stood by her.

Mahila Congress President Alka Lamba told reporters here on Monday, "Today, the Supreme Court's decision has stayed the High Court's order granting bail to Kuldeep Singh Sengar. The Supreme Court's decision has made it clear that the former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, convicted of raping a minor and murdering her family members, will not be released from jail. This is a victory for the victim, her family, and every voice that stood with her. But this fight is not over yet."

She also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that Modi used to say that those who rape minors would be hanged as soon as they are proven guilty, but everyone has seen how rapists and criminals are being protected. Kuldeep Sengar case has now reached the Supreme Court. Whether it is Kuldeep Sengar, the culprits of Ankita Bhandari's case, or the culprits of Bilkis Bano's case, PM Modi and his government have been exposed in every case. Today, justice has prevailed, but this fight will continue until justice is fully served.

BJP and its supporters mocked victim: Lamba

Lamba said that when Kuldeep Singh Sengar was granted bail, the victim sat on a dharna at India Gate with her mother, and the BJP and its supporters mocked her. Kuldeep Singh Sengar got bail because the CBI fought a weak case. She said, "Amidst all this, Congress Parliamentary Party leader Sonia Gandhi and party leader Rahul Gandhi opened the doors of their homes and assured the victim and her family that we all stand with them until they get justice. Our lawyers stood completely with the victim; we fought this battle legally as well as on the streets."

She demanded that the drama of releasing and granting parole to the perpetrators of crimes against daughters should stop, and they should be given the death penalty directly. She said that the party will stand with the victimized daughters of the country until they get justice.
