Indian team announced for ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026; Vaibhav Suryavanshi to lead team on tour of S Africa; who will lead for WC?
The Indian team for the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026 has been announced. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has also been included in the Indian team for the Under-19 World Cup, which starts next month.
The BCCI shared the information on the social media platform X. The selected team will also play a three-match ODI series against South Africa.
Fourteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been appointed captain of the Indian Under-19 team. He will lead the team on the tour of South Africa.
However, Ayush Mhatre will be the captain for the World Cup. He is currently sidelined due to injury and will miss the South Africa tour.
The upcoming Under-19 World Cup 2026 will be held in Zimbabwe and Namibia. It will take place from January 15, 2026, to February 6, 2026.
Sixteen teams will participate in this World Cup. The Indian team has been placed in Group B.
All eyes will be on Vaibhav Suryavanshi
This time, all the teams in the tournament will have their eyes on Vaibhav Suryavanshi. This is because Vaibhav Suryavanshi has created a stir in the cricketing world by scoring seven explosive centuries this year. After scoring his first century in IPL 2025, he went on to score centuries in Youth Tests and ODIs. He also scored centuries while playing for India A and in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He has also scored magnificent centuries in the Under-19 Asia Cup and the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
