Just before the Congress Working Committee meeting here on Saturday, a social media post by senior party leader Digvijaya Singh, praising the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Jan Sangh, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, became the center of discussion.

Singh, considered a staunch critic of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the RSS, posted an old photo on 'X' (formerly Twitter) showing the current Prime Minister and then-RSS worker Narendra Modi sitting on the ground (on a mat) near the feet of senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani

Along with the photo, Digvijaya Singh wrote, "I found this picture on the Quora site. Very impressive. How an RSS grassroots volunteer and Jan Sangh/@BJP4India worker, sitting on the floor at the feet of leaders, became the Chief Minister of a state and the Prime Minister of the country. This is the power of 'organization'."

Singh, who has served as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and a Union Minister, wrote 'Jai Siya Ram' below the post.

According to reports, the photo is from March 14, 1995, at the swearing-in ceremony of BJP leader Keshubhai Patel as Chief Minister in Gandhinagar.

What Digvijaya Singh said?

Later, amidst a barrage of questions from reporters at the Congress headquarters, Digvijaya Singh said, "I have not praised the RSS and Modi. I have talked about the organization. I am a staunch opponent of the RSS and Modi. I have said what I had to say."

Earlier, on December 19, Singh, commenting on a video of Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha, wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "Rahul Gandhi ji, you are absolutely right on socio-economic issues. Full marks to you. Now please also focus on the Indian National Congress. Just as the Election Commission of India needs reforms, so does the Indian National Congress. You have started with 'organization building,' but we need more practical decentralized functioning. I am sure you will do it because I know you can. The only problem is that you are not easy to 'convince'!"

Singh also wrote "Jai Siya Ram" at the end of this post. He Rahul Mr. Gandhi, the Election Commission, and the Congress party in the post. He also attended the Congress Working Committee meeting on Saturday.
