India Becomes the World's Second Largest Mobile Manufacturing Hub: India has created a new history in the global manufacturing sector, becoming the world's second-largest mobile manufacturing hub. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that India's electronics production has increased more than sixfold in the last decade.
Thanks to the government's policies and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, not only has production increased significantly, but exports have also seen a massive eightfold surge. This achievement validates the success of the 'Make in India' campaign on the global stage, giving a new impetus to the Indian economy.
Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the central government's schemes like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) have transformed the country's electronics sector. Looking at the data from the past 11 years, India's electronics exports have increased eightfold and have now become the country's third-largest export category.
Boost in Employment Opportunities
The electronics manufacturing sector is not only generating revenue but has also become a major hub for job creation. According to Ashwini Vaishnaw, this sector has created a total of 25 lakh jobs in the last decade, with more than 1.3 lakh jobs added in the last five years alone.
1.42 lakh new jobs are expected to be created
Applications received under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme indicate that 1.42 lakh new jobs are expected to be created in the coming years. With the expansion of manufacturing units, young people at the grassroots level are receiving significant economic opportunities, realizing the dream of a self-reliant India.
10 new units approved for semiconductor sector
India is no longer limited to finished products but is rapidly moving towards manufacturing components and chips. The government has approved 10 new units for the semiconductor sector, three of which have already started pilot production. Soon, chips manufactured in India will be supplied to companies making mobile phones and other gadgets.
