IPL’s Most Expensive Overseas Player Cameroon Green Disappoints, Dismissed for Duck a Day after Rs 25.20 Crore Deal
The third Ashes Test between Australia and England is being played at the Adelaide Oval. On Wednesday, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. By the end of the first day's play, Australia had scored 326 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon remained unbeaten.
Wicket-keeper Alex Carey scored a century (106 runs) and Usman Khawaja scored a half-century (82 runs). Meanwhile, Cameron Green, the most expensive foreign player in IPL history, was dismissed for a duck. He had been bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 25.20 crore the previous day, after a bidding war first with Rajasthan Royals and then with Chennai Super Kings.
Australian Green became the costliest overseas player in the history of the IPL. In fact, Green's bid is a world-record amount for any overseas player in any franchise competition. Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings engaged in an intense bidding war for the Australian, but the Shah Rukh Khan-owned KKR roped in the all-rounder for a whopping Rs 25.20 crore. He broke the record of compatriot Mitchell Starc (Rs 24.75 crore, IPL 2024, KKR) to become the costliest foreign player ever.
But Green was dismissed for zero in the third Ashes match between India and Australia only a day after he was purchased for a record Rs 25.20 crore.
