Weather: On Thursday, a dense fog alert was issued for 12 districts of Madhya Pradesh by India Meterological Department (IMD). These include Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, and Sidhi. Meanwhile, a cold wave is expected in Bhopal, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Sehore, and Indore.

In Shajapur, nothing was visible beyond 50 meters, and there was also fog in Bhopal-Gwalior. Earlier on Wednesday morning, fog covered 22 districts, including Bhopal and Gwalior. Trains and flights were also delayed due to the fog. Dense fog prevailed in Bhopal, Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Maihar, Sidhi, Singrauli, Shahdol, Umaria, Katni, Jabalpur, Damoh, Sagar, and Vidisha.

Visibility was 1 to 2 kilometers in Gwalior, Narmadapuram, Ujjain, Mandla, Rewa, and Satna. Meanwhile, in Bhopal, Jabalpur, Khajuraho, Nowgong, Malajkhand, Datia, Guna, Indore, and Ratlam, nothing was visible beyond 2 km. Drivers were advised to drive cautiously due to the dense fog. In Shajapur, the fog was so thick that visibility was reduced to less than 50 meters.

Mandsaur and Shajapur were the coldest, with temperatures below 4 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, several cities in the state witnessed a significant drop in temperature on Tuesday and Wednesday night. Among the five major cities, Indore recorded the lowest temperature at 4.9 degrees Celsius. Bhopal recorded 5.1 degrees, Gwalior 9.8 degrees, Ujjain 8 degrees, and Jabalpur 8.6 degrees.

Trains running late

Due to fog, more than 15 trains coming from Delhi to Madhya Pradesh are running late by 20 minutes to 5 hours every day. The Meteorological Department issued a dense fog alert for Thursday as well. Therefore, the delays in train arrivals will continue today.

Fog covers 30 districts of UP

A thick layer of fog covered 30 districts of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday morning. Visibility was zero or a maximum of 10 meters in several districts, including Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Amethi, and Ayodhya. Drivers on the roads had almost no visibility.

Due to the dense fog in UP, seven flights were delayed on Wednesday. One flight had to be canceled, while another was diverted. Several trains ran hours behind schedule. In the last four days, more than 150 road accidents involving 150 vehicles have occurred in the state, resulting in 28 deaths.
