Russian President Vladimir Putin arrives in India, travels with PM Modi in same car to Prime Minister’s residence
Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in India. PM Narendra Modi received him at the airport. The two leaders hugged each other. Modi and Putin traveled from the airport to the Prime Minister's residence in the same car.
PM Modi hosted a private dinner in Putin's honor. This is Putin's first visit to India since the Russia-Ukraine war began.
PM Modi shared photos of his meeting with the Russian President on social media. He said that he was very happy to welcome his friend Putin. The friendship between India and Russia has stood the test of time in difficult times.
The Prime Minister's residence was decorated with Indian and Russian flags and vibrant lighting, adding to the significance of the visit.
Following the welcome, the two leaders also attended a cultural programme and applauded the artistes' performances.
In July 2024, Putin hosted Prime Minister Modi at his official residence in Moscow, Novo-Ogaryovo, and this meeting in New Delhi is considered another important milestone in that friendship.
Putin will be formally welcomed at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday morning, followed by delegation-level talks at Hyderabad House. The meeting is expected to conclude with a joint statement and the signing of several bilateral agreements.
Putin will also meet with President Draupadi Murmu and pay his respects by laying a wreath at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial. According to experts, this visit could advance India-Russia relations and set a new strategic direction in global politics.
