Umaria: Tiger Enters Villager’s House in Buffer of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve Causing Panic among Residents

On Monday morning, a tiger attacked a villager in Beldi village, adjacent to the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in Umaria. The tiger then entered a house and sat on a cot. This caused panic in the village. A large number of villagers climbed onto the roofs of their houses to see the tiger. 

The tiger was seen walking along the edge of the fields before it entered the village. Upon receiving the information, the forest department team from Panpatha Buffer immediately reached the spot. The team had to work for eight hours to capture the tiger.

This is not the first time a tiger has entered the village. Earlier, a tigress was spotted in the Gadariya Har area of ​​Chilhari, which was rescued on December 26th and sent to Madhav Tiger Reserve.

People in Beldi village of Panpatha Buffer say that the tiger was seen around 10 am. The forest department was informed around 10:30 am. Around 12:30 pm, the tiger came out of the field and moved towards the village.

Tiger attacked Gopal Kol

In the village, it attacked Gopal Kol. Gopal fell to the ground in a single pounce. He was badly injured and bleeding profusely. Gopal sustained an injury to his leg. After receiving first aid at Barhi Hospital in Katni district, he was referred to Katni for further treatment. The BTR (Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve) team is with the injured man.

Big Cat tiger entered and settled inside Dwivedi's house

Following the attack, the tiger entered and settled inside Durga Prasad Dwivedi's house, causing distress and fear among the villagers. The villagers reported that wild animals frequently roam in the area. Most villagers usually chase the animals away with sticks. Today, they also tried to surround the tiger with sticks. During this attempt, the tiger retaliated, injuring Gopal Kol. However, the tiger was rescued around 6 PM.

Prateek Srivastava, the range officer of Panpatha Buffer, stated that his team was present at the scene. The situation was being closely monitored. The safety of both the tiger and the villagers was their priority.
