UP: Bhupendra Chaudhary's return to Yogi Cabinet almost certain! Six new faces may get a chance, Pankaj Chaudhary leaves for Delhi
The signs of major changes are once again being visible in Uttar Pradesh politics. Following the appointment of Pankaj Chaudhary as the new state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, discussions about Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's cabinet expansion have intensified. After the crucial core committee meeting held at the CM's residence on Tuesday, the indications are clear that a reshuffle and expansion of the Yogi cabinet may happen soon. Immediately after this meeting, State President Pankaj Chaudhary left for Delhi, where he will apprise the party high command of the entire situation.
Intensive deliberation in the Core Committee meeting
According to sources, the core committee meeting at the Chief Minister's residence lasted for more than an hour and a half, during which the cabinet expansion and organizational restructuring were discussed in detail. CM Yogi Adityanath, State President Pankaj Chaudhary, BJP General Secretary (Organization) Dharmpal Singh, both Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's regional pracharak Anil Kumar, and several other senior office-bearers were present at the meeting.
This meeting is considered important in many ways, as it was the first formal meeting of the Sangh, the organization, and the government after Pankaj Chaudhary became the state president. During the meeting, not only was the nature of the proposed cabinet expansion discussed, but efforts were also made to build better coordination between the organization and the government. Sources say that introductions and discussions on future strategies also took place during the meeting.
Bhupendra Chaudhary's Return Almost Certain
Former state BJP president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary is the subject of much discussion in political circles. According to reliable sources, his return to the Yogi cabinet is being seriously considered. Bhupendra Chaudhary, who belongs to the Jat community, is considered a strong face of the BJP in Western Uttar Pradesh. Therefore, his inclusion in the cabinet before the 2027 assembly elections is being seen as a crucial part of the party's strategy.
Sources say that along with Bhupendra Chaudhary, the induction of half a dozen other MLAs into the cabinet has also been discussed. The party leadership is considering bringing forward faces that can strengthen the party electorally, while maintaining caste and regional balance.
Six New Ministers Likely
Currently, the Yogi government has 54 ministers, while the constitution allows for a maximum of 60. Therefore, there is a strong possibility of six new faces being included in the cabinet. According to sources, regional balance, caste equations, and contributions to the organization will be prioritized in the selection of these new ministers.
The party is also looking at which regions need strengthening and where representation should be increased. Western UP, Purvanchal, and Bundelkhand are likely to be key areas of focus.
Pankaj Chaudhary Leaves for Delhi, Will Discuss with High Command
After the core committee meeting, state BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary has left for Delhi. It is reported that he will present a complete report of the discussions held in the meeting and the proposed names to the party high command. The final decision on the cabinet expansion will be made only after receiving the green light from Delhi.
According to sources, if everything goes according to plan, the cabinet expansion could take place by January or February 2026. It is believed that the expansion will be implemented after the end of the inauspicious period of Kharmas, after consulting an auspicious time.
BJP Prepares for Mission 2027
Political analysts believe that this potential expansion of the Yogi cabinet is directly linked to Mission 2027. The BJP is working on a strategy to counter the opposition's PDA (Backward Classes, Dalits, Minorities) formula by maintaining a balance at both the organizational and governmental levels.
By including new faces in the government, the party aims to send a message to grassroots workers that hard work and organizational contributions will be rewarded. At the same time, the return of experienced leaders clearly indicates an attempt to strengthen the government politically and administratively.
Signs of increased political activity
Overall, the process of change in the Yogi government and the BJP organization has accelerated after the appointment of the new state president. After the final decision from Delhi, new political activity can be expected in Uttar Pradesh. The potential return of Bhupendra Chaudhary and the entry of six new ministers will not only change the face of the Yogi cabinet but will also make the BJP's strategy clearer ahead of the 2027 assembly elections.
