Vande Bharat Metro train to run between Indore and Ujjain for Simhastha 2028, what amenities will be available?
The Centre is planning to run a Vande Bharat Metro train between Indore and Ujjain in view of Ujjain Simhastha 2028. The Vande Bharat Metro will be operated as a shuttle service on the Indore-Ujjain route. This train will run on the existing railway tracks. There will be no need to lay a separate new track. While metros usually require separate tracks, a new track will not be needed for this service.
Indore MP Shankar Lalwani said that considering the increased passenger traffic during the upcoming Simhastha, the railway department has made extensive preparations. More than 300 trains will be operated from Indore, Ujjain, and surrounding stations.
The Vande Bharat Metro will run at a speed of 160 km per hour between Indore and Ujjain. The railway has already successfully conducted trials on this route at a speed of 180 kilometers per hour. According to sources, this train will be able to reach a speed of more than 50 kilometers per hour in just 5 seconds.
Journey will take approximately 40 to 45 minutes
The journey between Indore and Ujjain on the Vande Bharat Metro will take approximately 40 to 45 minutes. This train will be equipped with modern amenities, including AC and non-AC coaches. The Vande Bharat Metro running on the Indore-Ujjain route will also be known as the ‘Namo Bharat Train’.
Coaches will have all the modern amenities
According to railway sources, the Vande Bharat Metro train will have 12 world-class coaches. Its coaches are being specially designed and will have all the modern amenities available in a metro train.

According to officials, the Vande Bharat Metro train has been specially designed for high speed. On some routes, its maximum design speed is 180 kilometers per hour, while the operational speed has been set at 160 kilometers per hour.
The Lakshmibai Nagar railway station is being developed at a cost of approximately Rs 55 crore. Rs 45 crore is being spent on the station's development work and Rs 10 crore on the construction of a foot overbridge. This station is being upgraded keeping Simhastha-2028 in mind.
According to the information, the construction work of Lakshmibai Nagar railway station will be completed by January 2026, while the station is expected to be fully operational from February.
