What wrestler Vinesh Phogat said while announcing to withdraw her retirement
Wrestler Vinesh Phogat announced her decision to withdraw her retirement in a social media post on Friday.
She also said she would prepare for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Vinesh became a mother this year.
Last year, she was disqualified from the Paris Olympics final due to being overweight, and subsequently announced her retirement.
Vinesh Phogat wrote in an Instagram post on Friday, "People kept asking if Paris was the end. For a long time, I had no answers. I needed to step away from the mat. I needed to step away from the pressure, the expectations, even my own ambitions. For the first time in years, I truly let myself breathe."
She also shared this post on Instagram. She said, "I still love this sport. I still want to compete. In that silence, I found something I had forgotten; a fire that never went out. It was just buried under the fatigue and noise."
Vinesh wrote, "Discipline, routine, fight... it's all ingrained in me. No matter how far I've gone, a part of me has always remained on the mat. So here I am... heading towards the Los Angeles Olympics again, with a heart that's fearless and a spirit that refuses to give in. And this time, I'm not walking alone on the road to the Los Angeles Olympics... My son is also joining my team. My biggest motivation, my little cheerleader."
