Aajeevika Green Fair begins at Bhopal Haat: Plants, fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds and myriad other items lure visitors
A three-day Aajeevika Green Fair, organized by the Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihoods Mission, is being held at Bhopal Haat from January 24th to 26th. The chemical-free products of women's self-help groups under the Rural Livelihoods Mission were the main attraction at the fair.
Plants, fruits, vegetables, chemical-free grains, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and gardening supplies prepared in the groups' nurseries saw good sales on the first day. Women from self-help groups in Bhopal, Raisen, Sehore, Harda, Narmadapuram, Mandsaur, Vidisha, Gwalior, Rajgarh, Sagar, Sheopur, Agar-Malwa, Betul, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, and Guna districts have brought their products to the fair.
This fair is different from other fairs; it features ornamental plants like roses, chrysanthemums, and dahlias, plants of religious significance like basil, Shami, and Bael, and vegetable plants like tomatoes, chilies, cauliflower, and cabbage. Grafted brinjal plants are also available. Improved varieties of fruit trees such as grafted mangoes, guavas (Thai Pink Thai), lemons (seedless), oranges, sapodilla, and pomegranates are also specially available.
The fair also offers organic fertilizers, vermicompost, Nadep compost, Dhanjeevamrit, Dravya Jeevamrit, and organic pesticides such as Neemastra, Brahmastra, Agni Astra, Panchparni, and Dashparni decoction.
Integrated pest control materials such as blue and yellow sticky traps, pheromone traps, and light traps are also available. Similarly, earthen and cow dung pots, materials for preparing vegetable seedlings such as root trays and coco peat, and small nursery tools like trowels, secateurs for pruning, and budding knives are also available.
A variety of fresh juices, fruits, and herbal drinks are also available for visitors at the fair. In the evening, the patriotic songs performed by the Rag-Rang musical group captivated the audience. The fair will be open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM.
