IPL: What did BJP and Cong leaders say about BCCI directive to remove Bangladesh cricketer Mustafizur Rahman from Kolkata Knight Riders team?
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has instructed the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to remove Mustafizur Rahman from the team. Rahman is a Bangladeshi cricketer.
BJP leader Sangeet Som and Congress leader Priyank Kharge have reacted to this issue.
Speaking to the media in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, Sangeet Som said, "Many thanks to the BCCI for the decision it has taken."
He added, "This is a victory for all the Hindus of India, a victory for the Sanatanis. Shah Rukh Khan has understood that it is not good to mess with Sanatanis or go against them while living in India."
Meanwhile, Karnataka government minister Priyank Kharge said, "The franchise was following the rules made by the BCCI and ICC, and they should be questioned. If Shah Rukh Khan is a traitor, then the BCCI and ICC are also traitors."
Taking a dig at Home Minister Amit Shah and his son Jay Shah, he said, "The BJP uses nationalism when it is beneficial for them, otherwise they are the biggest traitors in the history of India."
Mustafizur Rahman was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for over nine crore rupees for IPL 2026. Shah Rukh Khan is one of the owners of this team.
Some BJP leaders had expressed displeasure over Mustafizur Rahman's inclusion in the KKR team, targeting Shah Rukh Khan.
Some Congress leaders strongly opposed this, calling it an attack on India's pluralistic society and saying that the BCCI and ICC should be questioned.
