Ladki Bahin Yojana Maharashtra e-KYC: Why over 60 lakh women could be excluded? Who will get the money and who will not?
Ladki Bahin Yojana Maharashtra e-KYC: Lakhs of beneficiary women waiting for the November-December installment of the Ladki Bahin Yojana in Maharashtra may face a major setback after the municipal elections. The lack of e-KYC verification among beneficiary women will be the main reason.
Sources claim that about 60 lakh beneficiary women have not completed e-KYC despite government directives. The deadline for e-KYC was December 31, 2025.
The Mahayuti government in Maharashtra has already announced that only eligible beneficiary women (with an income of less than Rs. 2.5 lakh) will receive the benefits of the scheme. However, the "Ladki Bahin" sisters who have not completed e-KYC will not receive further installments.
Under the Ladki Bahin Yojana, the government provides Rs. 1500 per month to two women from families with an annual income of less than Rs. 2.5 lakh. According to estimates, initially, approximately 2.45 crore Ladki Bahin sisters benefited from this scheme for several months.
Ineligible people were getting money
Later, it was revealed that millions of women from families with incomes exceeding Rs. 2.5 lakh, along with thousands of men, had also received money under the scheme. Thousands of female government employees were also among the beneficiaries. This resulted in the government losing crores of rupees every month, and the increased burden on the government treasury affected other schemes.
Govt made e-KYC mandatory
To reduce the burden on the government treasury caused by fraudulent beneficiaries, the government made e-KYC mandatory for beneficiaries. Thirteen parameters have been set for this process, which was launched in September. Initially, the deadline for this was November 18, but due to heavy rainfall and other technical reasons in the state, the deadline for e-KYC was later extended to December 31, which expired on Wednesday.
Now, sources claim that out of the more than 2.3 crore registered beneficiary women who were waiting for the November and December installments, 60 lakh will not receive the benefits of the scheme.
