Bhopal: The fragrance of the king of flowers, ’Rose’, will fill the Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal at the Gulab Udyan from 9 to 11 January. A Rose Exhibition will be organised jointly by the Department of Horticulture and the Madhya Pradesh Rose Society. Applications to participate in the exhibition are invited both online and offline until 6 January 2026.

Commissioner, Horticulture and Food Processing, Shri Arvind Dubey, said that Madhya Pradesh ranks second in the country in flower production. The state government has been making continuous efforts to promote floriculture. As part of these efforts, a rose exhibition is organised every year at the Gulab Udyan complex in Bhopal. Considering the growing public interest in roses, a healthy competition is organised among rose growers, with awards given for roses cultivated in pots, gardens, and on terraces.

Competition in three categories

Commissioner, Horticulture, Dubey said that entries from rose gardens developed within Bhopal city and the surrounding areas within a radius of approximately 40 kilometres will be included in the competition. Rose growers producing roses on a large scale may apply online or offline by 6 January. Representatives of the Rose Society and the Horticulture Department will conduct inspections of the rose gardens on January 7 and 8. On January 9, roses grown in pots at homes will be displayed at Gulab Udyan, for which growers may bring their entries between 8 a.m. and 12 noon. On 10 January, cut flowers will be displayed at the Gulab Udyan premises.

The Rose Exhibition will be formally inaugurated on January 10, and prizes will be distributed to the winners on 11 January.
