Maharashtra Municipal Elections 2026: Why Ajit Pawar said public thinks differently in every election

🎧 Listen:

Maharashtra Municipal Elections 2026Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, emphasizing social unity in Maharashtra, stated that every person living in the state is a Maharashtrian. "We are all one, and all Indians are one.  The mayor will be elected from here with this very thought in mind."

Speaking on electoral politics, Ajit Pawar explained the voters' mindset with an example. He said that the public thinks differently in every election.

In the Lok Sabha elections, the opposition secured 31 out of 48 seats in Maharashtra, while the Mahayuti alliance got only 17. However, just five months later, the picture completely changed in the assembly elections. The Mahayuti alliance won 238 seats, and the opposition was reduced to 85.

Ajit Pawar said that the Maharashtrian voter makes decisions in national, state, and local body elections based on different issues and needs. This is the strength of democracy, and this is why leaders should focus more on development than on rhetoric.

Responding to AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi's statement that "one day a woman wearing a hijab will become the Prime Minister of India," Ajit Pawar said that the seriousness of such statements depends on the person making them. He stated that someone or the other makes such statements every day, and it is not necessary to react to every statement.

Pawar said, "Only those who are directly affected by that statement should take it seriously. Some people make such statements just to further their own agenda. My clear opinion is that we should leave these things aside and discuss development."
