Betul: Padma Shri awardee tribal farmer Lahari Bai remained the center of attraction for people at the three-day Shri Anna Millets Fair-2026 organized at Shivaji Open Auditorium in Betul, Madhya Pradesh. Lahari Bai, a resident of Dindori district, has been honored with the Padma Shri by the Government of India for her remarkable contribution in the field of conservation and promotion of millets.
Lahari Bai brought with her over 150 varieties of millets
At the fair, Lahari Bai brought with her more than 150 varieties of millets, which attracted a large number of people who came to see them and learn about them. She said that traditional grains like Kodo, Kutki, Ragi, Sanwa, and Kangni are a centuries-old heritage of the tribal community, which she has preserved through years of hard work.

Lahari Bai said that millets are not just food, but a strong foundation of health, culture, and self-reliance. She appealed especially to the youth and women to make millets a part of their daily diet.
The fair was inaugurated by Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Durgadas Uike, MLA Dr. Yogesh Pandagre, BJP District President Sudhakar Pawar, and Municipal Council President Parvati Barskar. The guests visited the stalls set up by women's self-help groups and appreciated the organic products.
