🎧 Listen:

In a significant step towards wildlife conservation, a male tiger was safely transferred from Kanha Tiger Reserve to Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve (Nauradehi) on January 18.

The tiger was rescued from the Rukhad range of Pench Tiger Reserve, Seoni. At that time, the tiger cub was approximately 4 to 5 months old. Following the rescue, the tiger was raised and trained for natural hunting and independent roaming in the Ghorela rewilding enclosure at Mukki in Kanha Tiger Reserve.

Currently, the tiger is approximately 33 to 35 months old and has been found to be completely healthy and capable of independent life in the wild. Based on expert advice, it was decided to release the tiger into a protected area with a low tiger density and sufficient habitat.

The tiger was tranquilized by wildlife veterinarians and scientists, and its essential biological parameters were duly recorded. Under the continuous supervision of experts and in accordance with established standard protocols, the tiger was fitted with a satellite radio collar and safely transferred to Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve (Nauradehi). The tiger reserve provides a natural and suitable habitat for the long-term conservation of the tiger, allowing it to roam freely in its natural environment.
