Will Pakistan now not boycott ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026? When will team arrive in Colombo?
The Pakistan cricket team will now not boycott the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. PCB sources have claimed that the Pakistani team's schedule has been finalized. The team will depart for Colombo on February 2.
This has virtually put an end to speculation about Pakistan withdrawing from the World Cup or refusing to play against India. It is expected that the PCB will confirm its participation on Friday.
There is a tripartite agreement between the BCCI, PCB, and ICC. Under this agreement, all India-Pakistan matches in ICC tournaments until 2027 will be played at neutral venues. The PCB cannot break this agreement.
Pakistan's entire World Cup schedule is in Sri Lanka. Even if the team reaches the final, the final will also be played there. So, there is no basis for Pakistan to boycott the tournament or the match against India?
The PCB had fully supported the Bangladesh Cricket Board's security concerns regarding playing in India. However, it wants to do so within certain limits so that the ICC (International Cricket Council) does not take any action against it.
PCB Chief Mohsin Nakvi met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday, January 26th. The meeting discussed Pakistan's participation in the World Cup and the match against India. Nakvi said that a final decision would be made by next Friday or Monday.
