The visit coincides with the political turbulence in Assam, highlighted by the resignation of former Congress president Bhupen Kumar Bora. Sarma addressed the situation, expressing his intent to meet Bora for discussions related to his potential BJP involvement.

Himanta shared that Bora had invited him to his home. Taking a jab at this, he said he wanted him to join the BJP. Himanta claimed that he (Bora) was the only Hindu leader left in the Congress party.

Serious Infiltration Crisis in Assam

The Chief Minister presented worrying statistics on the internal security and demographic changes in his home state of Assam. He said that the current situation in Assam is dire as approximately 35 percent of the population there is made up of Bangladeshi infiltrators. Himanta claimed that his government is adopting a "zero tolerance" policy towards infiltration and is identifying and deporting approximately 100 to 150 Bangladeshis every day.

Massive campaign against encroachment

Referring to the ongoing campaign for land reform and removal of illegal encroachments in Assam, the Chief Minister stated that approximately 50,000 acres of land have been cleared from illegal occupation so far. He clarified that the administration's goal is still very high, and approximately 1,50,000 acres more land needs to be cleared in the future. This step is being taken to protect the rights of the state's local citizens and ensure fair distribution of resources.

Shivaji vs. Tipu Sultan

Speaking on the respect for historical icons and great men, Himanta Biswa Sarma took a dig at the comparative politics of opposition parties. He said that those who advocate equal respect for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Tipu Sultan have no knowledge of history.

Himanta argued that while Shivaji is revered as the protector of Hindus, Tipu Sultan committed severe atrocities against Hindus. He bluntly stated that one is a protector of Hindus and the other a destroyer, making them impossible to compare.
