How Much Gujarat Voter Count Has Decreased After SIR
Following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Gujarat, there has been a net decrease of 68,12,711 voters.
According to the Commission's data, the voter list in the state had 5 crore 8 lakh 43,436 voters at the time of the SIR. After the completion of the SIR process, there are 4 crore 40 lakh 30,725 voters. Consequently, Gujarat's voter list has decreased by 13.40 percent. The Union Territory of Lakshadweep has seen a decrease of 0.36 percent, and the list in Puducherry has seen a decrease of 7.57 percent.
At the time of the SIR, the list in Lakshadweep had 57,813 names, which declined to 57,607 after the completion of the process. Similarly, the number of voters in the Puducherry list has decreased from 10 lakh 21,578 to 9 lakh 44,211, representing a reduction of 77,367 names.
It is noteworthy that the SIR process removes the names of voters who are deceased, have moved to other areas, or are registered in more than one list, and adds the names of newly attained 18 years of age, who are permanent residents of the state and have submitted an application form to have their names included in the list.
The Commission has previously completed the SIR process in Bihar and the Summary Revision (SR) process in Assam. Based on the SIR results in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Chandigarh, as well as Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Kerala, and Goa, the final list will be released on February 21st.
