ICC T20 World Cup Match 2026: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi held an important meeting with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam and International Cricket Council (ICC) Vice-Chairman Imran Khwaja in Lahore on Sunday. The meeting took place at Gaddafi Stadium, and pictures of the meeting were released by the PCB.

This meeting comes at a time when efforts are intensifying to resolve the controversy surrounding the high-voltage T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan scheduled for February 15th. Pakistan had threatened to boycott the proposed India-Pakistan match in Colombo. The PCB stated that it was showing solidarity with Bangladesh because the ICC had refused to shift Bangladesh's match against India to another venue despite security concerns.

According to sources, the ICC has asked the PCB to clarify how it can invoke the 'force majeure' clause to withdraw from the match against India. A force majeure clause is a contract provision that excuses a party from performing their obligations when unforeseeable, uncontrollable, and extraordinary events (like natural disasters, wars, pandemics, or government actions) make it impossible or impractical to fulfill the contract, protecting them from liability for breach. However, Pakistan cannot explain what circumstances force it not to play against India.

Following this, Pakistan's stance has softened somewhat. According to sources, the situation began to change after an email was sent to the PCB by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, appealing to end the boycott because Sri Lanka will also suffer huge financial loss if the match between India and Pakistan, scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka, is not held. Therefore, Sri Lanka urged Pakistan to play againsat India in Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board says that if the India-Pakistan match does not happen, it will cause huge financial losses to all stakeholders and broadcasters. Meanwhile, the good news is that the PCB has contacted the ICC for talks.

Meabwhile, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla was questioned on Sunday night about the scheduled match between India and Pakistan on February 15 in the T20 World Cup 2026 schedule.

To this, he replied, "I will not comment on these things, nor is there any comment from the BCCI on this. Everything has been left to the ICC. We will accept whatever decision the ICC takes."

Rajeev Shukla said, "Everything has been left to the ICC."

Pakistan has announced that it will not play against India in the T20 World Cup 2026. According to the Pakistani government, this decision was taken in support of Bangladesh.

Efforts are underway to resolve the ongoing stalemate over Pakistan's proposed boycott of the T20 World Cup match against India.

International Cricket Council (ICC) Vice President Imran Khwaja also arrived in Lahore on Sunday in an attempt to resolve the stalemate regarding the India-Pakistan match.
