Massive Kanwar offered at Chambal Ghat Mahadev Temple in MP's Bhind on Mahashivratri-2026
Bhind: The enthusiasm of Shiva devotees is at its peak in Bhind in MP on the occasion of Mahashivratri-2026. A massive Kanwar, constructed at a cost of about five lakh rupees, arrived on Sunday for the Jalabhishek at the Mahadev Temple at Chambal Ghat in Arjunpur village of the Ater region.
According to information, villagers from Kachchhpura, Bajariya, and Arjunpur villages in the Ater region have collectively prepared the massive Kanwar weighing one lakh five thousand palas. Kanwaria Bharat Singh Gurjar stated that about five lakh rupees were spent on the construction of the Kanwar, while the total cost, including the travel and other arrangements, reached around seven lakh rupees.
Over 80 youth returned with holy Ganga water
He added that a team of over 80 youth returned with holy Ganga water from Soron pilgrimage in Uttar Pradesh. Due to the Kanwar's extremely heavy weight, it requires a team of 24 people to pull it, and the team is changed every kilometer. Amidst bhajan-kirtan and drum beats, this Kanwar was taken to the Mahadev temple on the morning of Mahashivratri for the ritualistic Jalabhishek.
Rachna Rathore, a young woman resident of Shastri Nagar in Bhind city, has also presented a unique example of faith. Rachna carried Ganga water from Soron and completed a 180-km trek alone. During this, she carried the idol of Lord Shiva weighing about 11 kg on her shoulder. On the day of Mahashivratri, she will perform Jalabhishek at the Vankhandeshwar Mahadev temple.
Arrangements for fruits, water and snacks have been made at various places across the district for the devotees and rest camps have also been set up. The entire district seems to be immersed in Shiva devotion.
