The hard work and confidence of rural women of Katni are now spreading their fragrance to the state capital Bhopal. A stall selling herbal gulal, produced by the Ragini Self-Help Group of the Barwara Gram Panchayat, will be set up in Bhopal's Haat Bazaar from February 28th to March 1st.

Demand for this gulal is steadily increasing due to its natural fragrance, skin-safe qualities, and environmental friendliness. Significantly, the group has already received an order for approximately 550 kilograms of herbal gulal locally. These days, the women are working day and night to fulfill orders and ensure timely supply.

Facilities are being provided for the sale and marketing

Collector Ashish Tiwari says that facilities are being provided for the sale and marketing of products of self-help groups and local products in the district to empower the women and members of self-help groups economically. Marketing of local products will also be encouraged in the district, realizing the concept of "Vocal for Local."

Previously dependent on limited income sources, the women of Barwara are now running a successful small enterprise through training and collective efforts.

Women received training under Livelihood Mission

Under the Livelihood Mission, the women received training in production techniques, packaging, quality control, and marketing. Following this, the group began producing all-natural herbal gulal from flowers, turmeric, beetroot, spinach, carrots, and other plants. This gulal is fragrant and safe for the skin, preventing eye irritation and skin problems caused by chemical dyes

The women of the group, who are promoting environmental protection and a safe Holi through herbal gulal, say that this initiative will not only increase their income but also strengthen their self-confidence. This will enable them to play an active role in their family's financial responsibilities.

Orders for over 550 kg herbal gulal have been received

District Project Manager Shabana Begum explained that considering the adverse effects of chemical dyes, herbal gulal is being produced through self-help groups. She reported that orders for over 550 kg have been received in the local market, and that the women from the Ragini group will also participate in the Bhopal Haat Bazaar from February 28th to March 1st, where a stall selling Katni's herbal gulal will be set up.

This success of the Ragini Self-Help Group of Barwara is becoming an inspiration for other rural women. It proves that with the right guidance and opportunity, rural women can also reach new heights in entrepreneurship and strengthen the foundation of a self-reliant India.
