Shikhar Dhawan marries girlfriend Sophie Shine, Yuzvendra Chahal shares photos
Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has married his girlfriend Sophie Shine. The 40-year-old former Indian opener got engaged to his Irish girlfriend a month ago, on January 12th. The two had been in a relationship for some time and made their relationship public in May 2025.
Dhawan previously divorced his first wife, Ayesha Mukherjee, in 2023. They married in 2011. Ayesha and Dhawan have a son.
Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal posted a video on Saturday, in which he and Sophie are seen dancing to the song "Mauja Hi Mauja." Chahal also shared some photos, including one showing Dhawan and his wife Sophie Shine on stage.
Dhawan wrote on Instagram last month, "Sharing everything from smiles to dreams. Grateful for the love, blessings, and good wishes I received for our engagement. We are choosing each other forever." Earlier, Sophie was seen supporting Shikhar's team during his IPL stint for the Punjab Kings.
According to reports, Shikhar Dhawan and Sophie Shine first met in Dubai a few years ago and gradually developed a friendship that later turned into a relationship. The two have reportedly been living together for more than a year.
Dhawan was prevented from even having virtual conversations with his son
In an interview last year, Dhawan spoke openly about the difficult times he faced after his divorce. He stated that he hadn't seen his son, Zoravar, for a long time and had lost contact.
Dhawan and his ex-wife, Ayesha Mukherjee, officially divorced in October 2023. They were married in 2011 and their relationship lasted for approximately 11 years. Ayesha has two daughters from a previous marriage. She gave birth to a son, Zoravar, with Dhawan.
During the divorce verdict, a Delhi court stated that Dhawan had suffered mental torture and was kept away from his only son for several years. However, the court did not grant Dhawan permanent custody, but instead allowed limited visits and video calls. Dhawan says that he was later prevented from even having virtual conversations with his son.
