PM Modi Israel Visit 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is embarking on a crucial two-day visit to Israel on February 25-26. Ahead of his arrival, the Israeli Parliament has been illuminated with the Indian tricolor. This is his second visit to Israel after his historic 2017 visit and the first during his third term. Amid the changing geopolitical landscape in West Asia and the Iran-US tensions, this visit is expected to provide a new direction for India-Israel relations.

Sharing a picture of Israel’s Parliament lit up in the tricolour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was honoured by the gesture and added, “Looking forward to addressing the Knesset later today.”

Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed during this visit. According to reports, a special mechanism may be developed under the agreements, opening the door to new areas of cooperation.

Key security agreements expected to be signed

A key security agreement is expected to be signed between the two countries during this visit. The proposed agreement will focus on sharing sensitive technology and joint production. According to media reports, Israel may agree on defense deals worth approximately $8.6 billion with India by 2026, making it India's second-largest arms supplier after France.

These potential deals could include the SPICE 1000 precision guidance bomb, the Rampage air-to-surface missile (250 km range), the Air LoRa air-launched ballistic missile, and the Icebreaker missile system with a 300 km range.

India to Receive Iron Dome Technology

Israel has also proposed to transfer technology for the Iron Dome air defense system to India. It is a mobile air defense system developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries.

The Iron Dome is designed to intercept short-range rocket, missile, and drone attacks. It includes a radar, control center, and missile launcher. The Tamir interceptor missile destroys enemy air attacks. Its success rate is reported to be approximately 90 percent.

Purchase of MALE drones

According to reports, India is purchasing additional Heron Mk-2 Medium Altitude Long-Range (MALE) drones from Israel. This drone can fly for approximately 45 hours at a time, carry a payload of approximately 470 kilograms, and reach an altitude of 35,000 feet. It is capable of operating in all weather conditions.

PM Modi's Program in Israel

During the visit, PM Modi will meet Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu. The two leaders will review the significant progress made in India - Israel Strategic Partnership, and discuss further opportunities in various areas of cooperation, including science and technology, innovation, defence and security, agriculture, water management, trade and economy, and people to people exchanges. The leaders are also expected to exchange perspectives on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

The Prime Minister will also call on Isaac Herzog, the President of Israel. This visit will reaffirm the deep and long-standing strategic partnership between the two countries and will present an opportunity to review the common challenges as well as realign efforts towards achieving their shared vision for a robust partnership between two resilient democracies.

Upon his arrival in Israel on February 25th, Prime Minister Modi will be welcomed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara. A bilateral meeting will be held between the two leaders. The Prime Minister will then address the Knesset in Jerusalem, a special honor bestowed upon a foreign leader.

During the visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet with top Israeli officials and a private dinner will be hosted in his honor.
