Weather: Rainfall in Bhopal, rain alert for 8 districts in Madhya Pradesh, mercury plummets, check details and IMD predictions
The weather has changed in many states across the country. Bhopal and Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh experienced rain on Thursday morning. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for eight districts. Earlier on Wednesday, hailstorm occurred in 20 districts, including Ratlam, Sheopur, Morena, Shivpuri, and Mandsaur.
This is the third time this February that the weather has changed in Madhya Pradesh. On Wednesday, it rained in some areas and hail fell in others. Similar weather conditions prevailed on Thursday.
Earlier on Wednesday, more than 20 districts, including Ratlam, Sheopur, Morena, Shivpuri, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Gwalior, Bhind, and Datia, experienced rain and hail. Bhopal experienced sunny weather during the day, but clouds gathered in the evening.
IMD has issued a rain alert has for 8 districts in Gwalior, Chambal, and Sagar divisions for February 20. Lightning may also strike.
On February 21, the weather will be clear.
Rajasthan: Orange alert issued
In neighbouring Rajasthan, an orange alert has been issued for heavy thunderstorms and rain in 11 districts. A day earlier, intermittent rainfall occurred throughout the day in more than 11 districts. The trauma center of SMS Hospital in the capital, Jaipur, was flooded, forcing the postponement of several operations. Hailstorm also occurred in 4 districts.
The cold in Rajasthan intensified after hailstorms and rain on Wednesday. The daytime temperature dropped to 10 degrees and cold winds caused a chill. Temperatures are expected to rise again today with clear skies and sunshine.
Meanwhile, rain and snowfall are expected in five hilly districts of Uttarakhand, including Dehradun.
