Nursing education in Madhya Pradesh gained international recognition when, following recent political developments in Nepal, former nursing student Nisha Mehta was appointed as Nepal's Minister of Health and Population. This development is being hailed as an inspiring achievement—not only for the state but also for the global nursing profession.

Congratulating Mehta, Ravi Parmar, the State Vice President of the NSUI, stated that her achievement is a moment of pride for every nursing student associated with Madhya Pradesh. He said that, on a global stage, this marks the first time a representative of the nursing profession has been entrusted with the responsibility of such a high-ranking ministerial portfolio.

Nisha Mehta completed her B.Sc. in Nursing from AIIMS Delhi

Parmar said that Nisha Mehta completed her B.Sc. in Nursing from AIIMS Delhi between 2006 and 2010, after which she earned her M.Sc. in Nursing from the Post Graduate College of Nursing in Gwalior. Her journey—spanning from educational institutions in Delhi and Madhya Pradesh to a position of national leadership—stands as an inspiring example.

He further added that a delegation of nursing students from Madhya Pradesh would soon visit Nepal to meet with Mehta and extend an invitation for her to visit the state.

Parmar demanded greater representation for the nursing sector in MP, the establishment of a robust cadre system, and transparency in promotion processes.
