PF Funds now available in just 3 days; EPFO account transfer now easier, take a look at what has changed for you
EPFO: The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has implemented several major changes to further streamline processes for private sector employees. These changes address a range of issues, from claim settlements to pension-related matters. If you are also an employee contributing to the PF, let's take a look at what has changed for you.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha regarding the EPFO regulations, Shobha Karandlaje, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, stated that the objective is to make the system faster, more transparent, and user-friendly. This will expedite claim settlements, simplify procedures, and enable access to all services digitally from a single platform.
PF Funds Now Available in Just 3 Days
Efforts have been made to streamline the entire process by minimizing paperwork and making it fully online and automated. While claim settlements previously took up to 20 days, the task is now being completed in less than three days. This brings significant relief to both employees and pensioners.
Automatic Pension Transfer
The most significant change has taken place regarding the Centralized Pension Payment System (CPPS). The Minister stated that, effective January 1, 2025, all field officers have adopted this system. With the implementation of this system, pensions are being disbursed on time to over 7 million pensioners every month—seamlessly and without errors.
Claim Settled in 'Auto Mode'
The government has reported that during the current financial year—up to February 25, 2026—a total of over 3.52 crore claims, each amounting to up to Rs 5 lakh, have been settled in 'auto mode.' Of the total advance claims received, approximately 71.37% have been settled automatically. Through these settlements, a total sum of approximately Rs 51,620 crore has been disbursed. Consequently, it is evident that people no longer have to endure long waiting periods.
EPFO Account Transfer Now Easier
Changing jobs now allows for the easy transfer of one's EPF account. While this process previously required employer approval and involved multiple steps, it now happens automatically once the KYC details are updated. As of February 25, 2026, 70.5 lakh auto-transfer claims have been processed without any manual intervention.
