Contesting an election is a painful experience for me: Debnath
Speaking to journalists, Ratna Debnath said, "Contesting an election is a painful experience for me. However, my victory will signify a victory for the people of Panihati. I will strive to alleviate the plight of this region. Serving the people is now the sole purpose of my life."
Shuvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, had announced just this Tuesday that the victim's parents had formally joined the BJP.
For the Panihati seat, the Trinamool Congress has nominated Tirthankar Ghosh—the son of Nirmal Ghosh, who served as the Chief Whip in the Assembly—as its candidate.
It is noteworthy that the BJP had previously announced 144 candidates in its first list and 111 candidates in its second list.
Voting in West Bengal is scheduled to take place in two phases, on April 23 and April 29. Following this, the results will be announced on May 4.
