Why Boney Kapoor Approached Madras High Court in Sridevi Property Dispute Case: Petition Filed Jointly with Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor
The legal dispute surrounding the estate of the late actress Sridevi has once again made headlines. Film producer Boney Kapoor and his daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, have approached the Madras High Court regarding this matter.
The entire case revolves around a property owned by Sridevi located on East Coast Road in Chennai. An individual has laid claim to this property and, in connection with this, had filed a petition in the District Court of Chengalpattu.
While hearing the matter, the Additional District Judge of Chengalpattu did not accept the Kapoor family's appeal, in which they had sought to have the petition dismissed at the preliminary stage itself.
Boney Kapoor and his daughters have challenged lower court's decision
Boney Kapoor and his daughters have now challenged this decision of the lower court in the Madras High Court. They contend that the lawsuit is not legally tenable and should be dismissed. The Kapoor family argues that all rights and documents pertaining to the property rest with them; therefore, such claims are baseless.
Meanwhile, the petitioner claims to possess certain rights regarding the property, which warrant a legal examination. It is on this very basis that a case has been filed in court. The final verdict on this entire dispute will become clear only after a hearing is conducted in the High Court.
This case is also considered significant as it is directly linked to Sridevi's legacy. Ever since her demise, reports concerning her assets and rights have surfaced periodically.
Currently, the hearing in Madras High Court is awaited. It now remains to be seen what stance the Court adopts in this matter, and whether or not the Kapoor family receives any relief.
