Raipur:Women of Pahadi Korwa community, a special backward tribe of Chhattisgarh, are setting a new example of self-reliance on the basis of government schemes and their hard work. In this series, the success story of Sham Kumari Pahadi Korwa, resident of Dhaurpur area of ​​Surguja district, has become an inspiration for other youth.

Under the guidance of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and the initiative of the district administration, Sham Kumari has been provided employment in the Health Department, due to which she is now fulfilling her dream of higher education on her own.

Pahadi Korwa is an extremely backward tribe (PVTG) inhabiting the border areas of Chhattisgarh (mainly Surguja, Balrampur, Jashpur, Korba) and Jharkhand. They live mainly in hills and forests, practice 'dahiya cultivation' (shifting cultivation) and depend on roots and hunting. 'Khudia Rani' is their main goddess and their society belongs to the Munda group (Austro-Asiatic).

Sham Kumari, resident of Gram Panchayat Chirmunda of Lundra development block of Surguja district, is currently a final year student of B.Sc. Considering her passion towards education and the need for economic self-reliance, she has been posted as Ward Aya in 'Urban Community Health Centre, Navapara'.

Getting higher education was a big challenge

Sharing her happiness, Sham Kumari says that getting higher education was a big challenge for her, but now the path has become easier after getting employment. He said, I am very happy that I have got the employment opportunity. Now I can bear the expenses of my further studies and help improve the financial condition of my family.

It is noteworthy that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sai, the state government is making continuous efforts to connect the youth of Special Backward Tribal Groups (PVTG) with the mainstream. On the initiative of the district administration, Pahadi Korwa boys and girls educated under DMF have been appointed to 30 posts of ward boys and ward maids in the health department.
