W Bengal Assembly Election 2026: The political atmosphere in West Bengal has suddenly heated up ahead of the assembly elections. At the center of the controversy is Humayun Kabir, the chief of the Aam Janata Unnayan Party.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has released a video leveling a major allegation that Kabir is involved in a multi-crore deal in collusion with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and is conspiring to influence Muslim votes. Following this allegation, a war of words has erupted in the state's politics.

Specifically, TMC leaders Firhad Hakim, Arup Biswas, and Kunal Ghosh presented an alleged video during a press conference. The video purportedly shows Humayun Kabir engaging in a conversation wherein he discusses matters such as "Rs 1,000 crore" and misleading the Muslim community.

BJP executing a strategy to split Muslim vote

Kunal Ghosh further alleged that the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) itself could have a role in this alleged deal, and he demanded an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Mamata Banerjee's party, the TMC, asserts that the BJP is executing a strategy to split the Muslim vote in West Bengal.

Video created using AI: Humayun

Flatly dismissing all these allegations, Humayun Kabir stated that the video in question was created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and is completely fake. He explicitly clarified that he has not met or been in contact with any BJP leader since 2019. Kabir issued a challenge, stating that if the TMC possesses any concrete evidence, it should be made public. He alleged that this entire episode is a calculated conspiracy designed to tarnish his image.

Humayun Kabir took direct aim at Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, Kunal Ghosh, and Firhad Hakim. He contended that these leaders are colluding in an attempt to politically undermine him. He remarked that when a direct victory in the political arena appears unlikely, recourse is often taken to such AI-generated videos.

Muslim community urged not to be misled

Kabir has made it clear that he intends to take this matter to court and file a defamation lawsuit. Furthermore, he has appealed to the Muslim community not to be misled by such reports. It now remains to be seen what stance investigative agencies will adopt regarding this matter, and to what extent this issue will influence the prevailing electoral atmosphere.
