W Bengal Assembly Election 2026: Amit Shah arrived in Kolkata on April 10, 2026, to release the BJP's 'Sankalp Patra' (manifesto) for the West Bengal Assembly elections. He pledged to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) within six months, curb cattle smuggling, and seal the borders.

Amit Shah targeted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee while speaking at an event in Kolkata. He asserted that the BJP would form the government with an absolute majority and bring about change in the state. He also emphasized that the BJP is not a dynastic party and that the BJP CM would be a party worker hailing from Bengal itself.

Speaking about Humayun Kabir video, Amit Shah remarked, "You are unaware of Mamata-ji's capabilities. Mamata-ji could orchestrate the creation of two thousand such videos. Humayun Kabir and the BJP are as far apart as the South Pole and the North Pole. We would prefer to sit in the opposition for twenty years rather than align ourselves with those associated with the Babri Masjid issue."

Amit Shah stated that Mamata Banerjee's government has fostered an atmosphere of fear, discrimination, and corruption within the state. He alleged that the government is being run through a nexus of syndicates, goons, and infiltrators, leaving the public feeling disillusioned and intimidated.

Shah clarified that dynastic politics has no place in the BJP. The BJP's Chief Minister will be a capable, competent individual deeply rooted in the cultural identity of Bengal. Amit Shah affirmed that the BJP does not discriminate between Hindus and Muslims and treats everyone equally.

UCC to be Implemented Within Six Months

The Union Home Minister announced that if the BJP forms the government, the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be implemented within six months, ensuring a uniform set of laws for everyone in the state. Shah stated that Bengal's borders would be sealed, and a policy of "Detect, Delete, and Deport" would be adopted to combat infiltration. Strict action would also be taken against cattle smuggling and illegal encroachments.

Promises for Women and the Poor

He announced several schemes aimed at women, including a target to create 75 lakh "Lakhpati Didis" , free bus travel, dedicated help desks, and financial assistance of Rs 21,000 for pregnant women. The BJP has pledged to create 1 crore jobs. Additionally, a commitment was made to provide a monthly financial assistance of Rs 3,000 to unemployed youth.
