What is Jhargram vendor who served Jhalmuri to PM Modi regretting now? What opportunity he missed?
PM Modi and Jhargram Jhalmuri Vendor: Vikram, who runs a Jhalmuri stall in the town of Jhargram, West Bengal, never in his wildest dreams imagined that one day the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi would come to his shop to eat a plate of Jhalmuri worth 10 rupees. He is now absolutely delighted.
The Prime Minister chatted with him for ten minutes. The video has been dominating TV channels and is being widely shared across social media platforms. Just like any ordinary customer, Vikram—the shopkeeper—even asked the Prime Minister, "You do eat onions, don't you?" However, he now harbors one regret.
Vikram recounted details of conversation with PM
After PM Modi departed, the media surrounded him. Vikram recounted the details of the conversation that took place with the PM. The Jhalmuri vendor explained, "The PM asked me to prepare some Jhalmuri. I wasn't asking for payment, but he insisted, saying, 'No, no—how much does it cost?' So, I accepted the money.
Vikram said, "Modi ji asked for my mother's and father's names. He also asked where I hailed from. I told him that I was from Bihar. He then asked me, 'From where in Bihar?' I replied that I was from Gaya."
Vikram was only able to study up to the 9th grade due to poverty
Vikram explained that, due to poverty, he was only able to study up to the 9th grade. He also told PM that he earns between 1,000 and 1,200 rupees daily.
What Vikram is regretting now?
Vikram stated that the PM did not engage in any political conversation whatsoever. Furthermore, he expressed regret—or rather, a sense of remorse—over the fact that he had made one particular mistake: failing to obtain an autograph from the PM. Vikram remarked, "I made just one mistake: I didn't get any autograph or anything of the sort from Modi ji."
