How UP's Fruit Exports Will Gain Global Recognition, What Shivraj Singh Chouhan Told at 'Fruit Horizon 2026'
Lucknow: Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with Uttar Pradesh's Minister of Agriculture Surya Pratap Shahi, and the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Horticulture Dinesh Pratap Singh, participated in the "Fruit Horizon 2026" program.
On this occasion, a 'Fruit Expo' exhibition, based on the theme "Globalization of the Indian Fruit Value Chain," was also inaugurated.
Speaking at the event, the Union Agriculture Minister praised the efforts being undertaken, stating that the Central and State governments are working in tandem to facilitate the reach of farmers' produce to international markets. He noted that the State government has achieved remarkable progress in the horticulture sector. The Uttar Pradesh Horticultural Export Promotion Board has been constituted, and rooftop gardening is also being actively promoted in urban areas.
He emphasized that domestic exporters from Uttar Pradesh must be provided with better facilities and institutional support to ensure that the state's fruit products become competitive in the global market. He advocated for a 50 percent subsidy on pruning machines, as well as subsidies on paper bags to facilitate the safe packaging of fruits. Furthermore, he called upon officials to work with greater dedication to elevate the export of the state's agricultural and horticultural products to new heights.
Dinesh Pratap Singh stated that the Yogi government is continuously striving to facilitate the access of farmers' surplus produce to global markets, and expressed confidence that, in the near future, Uttar Pradesh would rank among the country's leading fruit-exporting states. He highlighted that the State government is consistently taking concrete measures to promote agricultural diversification and fruit exports.
