Kuno Cheetah: Cheetah KGP-3 Makes First Kill in Forests of Sarmathura Dholpur; what experts said?
Kuno Cheetah: Cheetah KGP-3—which had ventured out of Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park and reached the forests of the Sarmathura region in Dholpur district via the Karauli Tiger Reserve—made its first kill on Thursday night.
On Friday, the Forest Department urged local residents to remain vigilant and to immediately report any suspicious activity, thereby ensuring the cheetah's safety and continued monitoring. The animal is being continuously tracked through a radio collar fitted by the Forest Department.
Following the cheetah's first kill—a bovine in the Bhedon Ka Pura area near the Rijhoni forest block—experts have noted that when a cheetah begins hunting shortly after arriving in a new territory, it serves as a positive indication of its successful adaptation. This also suggests that the forests of Dholpur could prove to be a suitable habitat for the animal.
A video has also surfaced, capturing the cheetah in the act of making its kill.
