Over 3 Lakh Devotees Have Darshan of Baba Kedar During Kedarnath Yatra-2026; what arrangements administration have made?
Shri Kedarnath Dham: During the 2026 pilgrimage season to Shri Kedarnath Dham—the eleventh Jyotirlinga located in Uttarakhand—more than 3 lakh devotees have, to date, had the sacred darshan of Baba Kedar.
Under the leadership of District Magistrate Vishal Mishra, the district administration has implemented robust and effective arrangements; consequently, despite the massive influx of devotees, the pilgrimage continues to proceed smoothly, safely, and in an organized manner.
Since the opening of the temple portals (Kapat) on April 22, and up until 5:00 PM on May 3 evening, a total of 3,08,085 devotees have successfully had darshan of Baba Kedar. Furthermore, the arrival of 23,784 devotees was recorded on this single day alone—a figure that underscores the efficiency of the pilgrimage management and the strength of the administrative arrangements.
To ensure the pilgrimage remains both smooth and safe, teams from the district administration, police, health services, and disaster management departments are deployed and on alert 24/7. Effective arrangements regarding drinking water, medical aid, accommodation, sanitation, and traffic management have been ensured at every major halt along the pilgrimage route.
Special vigilance in sensitive and landslide prone areas
Given the challenging geographical terrain and fluctuating weather conditions, special vigilance is being exercised in sensitive areas and zones prone to landslides. For rapid relief and rescue operations, all relevant agencies—including the SDRF, DDRF, and NDRF—are operating on high alert.
Additionally, the entire pilgrimage is being continuously monitored through a dedicated control room to ensure an immediate response in the event of any emergency. The administration's primary objective is to provide devotees with a safe, hassle-free, and pleasant pilgrimage experience.
