The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the case regarding the death of Twisha Sharma and has decided to hear the matter on May 25. Twisha's family members have accused her husband and in-laws—residents of Bhopal—of being responsible for her death.

A bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi, and Justice Vipul M. Pancholi will hear this case.

Questions have been raised regarding the investigation into this matter in Madhya Pradesh. Allegations have also surfaced suggesting that the investigation may have been influenced, thereby heightening concerns regarding its impartiality. It is reported that the Chief Justice remarked that such allegations could impact the credibility of the judiciary and emphasized the need for an impartial investigation by an independent agency.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway to conduct a second post-mortem examination following an order from the Jabalpur High Court. A medical board constituted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)—led by forensic expert Sudhir Gupta—will conduct this examination.

The four-member medical team is expected to arrive in Bhopal via a state government-chartered aircraft to complete this procedure.
