Telangana: Know more about Rs 1,700 Crore Kakatiya Mega Textile Park to be inaugurated by PM Modi in Warangal
Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the PM MITRA Park in Warangal on Sunday. Also known as the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP), the facility has been developed under the PM MITRA scheme.
Developed at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 1,700 crore, this is India's first fully operational PM MITRA Park and embodies the Government of India's '5F' vision—Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign.
Strategically situated near the proposed Nagpur-Vijayawada Greenfield Expressway (NH-163G) and in close proximity to NH-163, the park offers excellent multimodal connectivity to major railway networks and ports, thereby ensuring seamless logistics for global trade.
Designed as a world-class industrial ecosystem, the park is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, including an extensive internal road network, dedicated power substations, and an assured water supply.
Telangana is ideally suited for cotton production
Telangana is ideally suited for cotton production, as 23 percent of the region's land area is covered by fertile black soil. Since the era of the Nizams, this region has been renowned for its high-quality cotton.
Following the formation of the state of Telangana, the state government—led by K. Chandrashekar Rao—initiated efforts to revitalize the textile sector by establishing the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, named in honor of the Kakatiya dynasty. The foundation stone for this park was laid in October 2017.
The Kakatiya Mega Textile Park was selected as the first among the seven sites approved under the framework of the PM-MITRA scheme.
The KMTP has been operational for some time and possesses the potential to generate over one lakh direct and indirect jobs, making it a significant economic booster for the Warangal region.
